The process of giving denim special washed/vintage looks and color effects after stitching it into jeans or other garments is called denim washes. Over the past few decades, different denim washing techniques have been developed and used on different materials to create a large variety of designs for trendy denim garments and jeans.

Fabric finishing is the last stage in the production of denim. This is where the final touch is added, and it can make a big difference in how the fabric looks, feels and fades.

Materials Required For Denim Washes:

  • bleach

  • stone

  • gloves

  • plastic

  • cloth brush

  • denim

Process:

  1. Set up the work space (put the plastic on the table and wear gloves).

  2. Take the denim and pour bleach on it and let the bleach stay on the denim for 30 mins.

  3. After 30 mins rub the bleach using stone or cloth brush.

  4. Once you see the denim change it's color, wash the denim in water and keep it for drying.

Materials Required for Denim Finishes:

  • denim

  • scissors

  • blade

  • grater

  • safety pin

Process:

  1. Choose the denim.

  2. Start cutting the denim with the help of scissors of blade.

  3. Once the cutting is done, remove the threads from the same.

  4. Use a grater on the denim to give it a torn effect.

This was such an interesting assignment! I could create various abstract effects. I used a few tie and dye techniques for the denim washes to create the particular effect. The denim finishes done using grater, scissors and a blade.

Do share your vibe and comment!
