It is said that 'Big things come in small packages' and I think this couldn't hold more true in case of the tiny little things that many a times go unnoticed either on the cuff of our sleeves or on a sweater. I'm sure we all know what buttons are, we've all seen them but have we ever tried taking a closer look?
Button, usually disk like piece of solid material having holes or a shank through which it is sewed to one side of an article of clothing and used to fasten or close the garment by passing through a loop or hole in the other side. Purely decorative, nonutilitarian buttons are also frequently used on clothing. These are available in various types, colors and materials. A few of them are Flat Buttons, Shank Buttons, Stud Buttons, Toggle Buttons and Decorative Buttons.
Did you know buttons can change the entire look of the outfits? So come let's analyze the various kinds of buttons and it's applications!

Here I sew some buttons on a piece of muslin. The buttons have four, two and one hole each and are of different colors. To put it in easy words you need to place the button in the desired position, insert the needle and push through all the holes at least twice.
Some of the key things to consider while doing so are:
Always choose a matching color thread as you don't want your garment to look shabby, unpleasant or contrasted. Sometimes the smallest of things leave the biggest impacts.
There is a right way to sew a button, oh yes! In case of the four hole buttons, one needs to follow an X basically connecting the opposites that are diagonal. Again a tiny little thing but you never know when it gets noticeable.
Here are a few different kinds of buttons I found in my garments.
So what are you waiting for? Go take a look at your garments and try analyzing the various kinds of buttons and their application.
So here was a small understanding of buttons and a few ways to sew then right! Do share your vibes and comment!
